Janine’s work focuses on organisational redesign and the implementation of strategic initiatives. An experienced HR practitioner, she has led and contributed to a wide range of CIS projects including over 30 organisational reviews. She has expertise in change management, governance, stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, management coaching and career counselling.

Having worked primarily in the biotechnology and broader science and technology sector for over 25 years, Janine has an in-depth understanding of the challenges specific to that sector, including in both public and commercial organisations. Prior to joining CIS in 2000, Janine was Manager, HR Development and Strategy at CSIRO’s (then) Division of Molecular Science. Over the past 16 years she has provided HR management services to long-standing clients including three of Australia’s most successful biotech companies, Starpharma, Spinifex Pharmaceuticals and Biota. She has also consulted to organisations in other sectors, including higher education, manufacturing, construction and community, and therefore brings a broad perspective and a range of practical HR management and problem-solving approaches to her client engagements.

With a passion for R&D, Janine is particularly attracted to projects at the interface of industry and academia. She holds a PhD in Economic Sociology from Swinburne University of Technology, with research interests in gender, work and organisations. She also holds a Master of Social Policy (University of Melbourne), a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (Deakin University), a Bachelor of Arts (University of Melbourne), and is an accredited Myers-Briggs Type Indicator practitioner.
