PROJECT OVERVIEW

Moreton Bay Regional Council wanted to create a thriving new precinct that would generate thousands of local higher education and employment opportunities for the region. This opportunity initiated its 2015 call for expressions of interest from universities to be the Anchor Education Partner. Shortlisted applicants were invited to submit a full proposal.

Moreton Bay Regional Council’s vision and goals for the university precinct aligned strongly with those of the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC). The USC was committed to submitting a competitive expression of interest and full proposal to demonstrate its alignment with the Moreton Bay Council and the economic and social benefits it could bring to the growing Moreton Bay community.

APPROACH

USC engaged CIS and other partners to support the development of a compelling business case for the full proposal stage. CIS assisted with the vision and articulation of proposed services and quantified economic impacts from the Sippy Downs and Moreton Bay campuses, giving consideration to teaching, research and innovation outcomes

RESULTS

USC was selected as the successful Anchor Education Partner – to develop an exciting new university campus in the Moreton Bay Region, equal in status to the campus at Sippy Downs. The new campus is expected to cater to up to 10,000 students within the first 10 years, starting from the year 2020.
