World-leading research and world-changing impact
Background: In support of a new University-wide Strategic Plan, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) engaged CIS to help facilitate the development of a 10-Year Strategic Research Framework that would be bold and ambitious, with targets that would align and stretch its research community. With a strong focus around industry collaboration on relevant and significant local, national and global challenges, the Framework would guide, drive and focus research activities, enabling the university to remain at the forefront of world-leading research and continue to have world-changing impact.
Approach: Working alongside the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the Research Portfolio’s Executive Officer, CIS helped develop the core structure and content of the Framework, initially in the form of a Green Paper, for broad university-wide circulation and feedback. Drawing upon the extensive consultation and feedback received, two final Strategic Research Frameworks were published – one in the form of a publicly available (abridged) version and another comprehensive and confidential version for internal release.
Results: The 10-Year Strategic Research Framework has been positively received by the university’s leadership team, broader academic community and collaborating partners. The Framework has helped position the University for a research funding environment that will be strongly influenced by industry collaboration, engagement and impact.
